Dean’s Medalist on Track to Teach Fourth Grade at Fresno Unified

Kaylee Gutierrez has distinguished herself as an outstanding student and service leader. As the Kremen School of Education and Human Development’s 2018-2019 Undergraduate Dean’s Medalist, she is a leader both academically and in service, and envisions herself providing access to children.

Her work at Fresno State and in the community exemplifies the highest level of dedication and engagement. Kaylee is a President’s Scholar, a future teacher, and a self-published author. Kaylee has graduated in just four years with her bachelor’s degree in liberal studies and completion of an elementary teaching credential. Her drive and dedication led her to complete this unconventional academic pathway in four years and while maintaining a high GPA, as opposed to the traditional five-in-a-half year pathway.

During her credential coursework, Kaylee student taught with Fresno Unified School District (FUSD) and found her passion for teaching upper elementary grades. In December 2018, FUSD offered Kaylee an intent-to-hire and she is planning to become a fourth-grade teacher at Lincoln Elementary school upon graduation.
